Obinizza is a café, theatre and meeting point all rolled into one. It offers gourmet, glamour as well as primeval Finno-Ugric rhythms.
Obinizza is located right on the central square of the Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2015. Built in the 1930s as the home of the Kalju family, and entitled Kaljuloss (Cliff Castle), this edifice married the quintessential hospitality of the Seto culture with both traditional foods and new trends of the 1930s. The star dish on Café Day is a product of a dream that the head chef at Obinizza once had, fused in collaboration with the heat of the sun and the entire clan.
On one otherwise dreamless full-moon night, the star menu item, “Hüdseliha” (meat roasted over coals) appeared to the chef. Hüdseliha is something that you can show up to dine on in white gloves, if you so wish – it has real haute cuisine cred. It comes with a bed of greens harvested at the grass-roots level.
KUNSTIZAAL will offer arts and crafts for purchase. In the gallery café, poets will sing and read poetry, experts will teach dances, and village musicians will play music. Seto leelo folk singing will also be performed
