Vanavalgõh vannamuudu

This year, our café, long a fixture at Pop-up Café Day, is grand homage to our forebears who left our generation an inexhaustible treasury of culinary art. The careful and discerning use of this valuable heritage in the kitchen has led us to wondrous flavours that we now, on Pop-up Café Day, wish to offer our guests. Our coffee hut has developed a house menu that is unique, and always fresh and tasty.

Muidjo käüse elo Inara Vanavalgõ Kohvitarõh õks vannamuudu – as the Setos say, life in our café goes on the old way. Our master cooks will turn out gourmet, old-fashioned meat dumplings. You’ll also find one-of-a-kind stone-pressed sõir and organic meadowsweet and rhubarb syrup. Just like in olden times, you can sit at a table with a white tablecloth and drink “milk coffee the way grandmother used to make.”
In winter, we experimented making perepech, a traditional Udmurt food, and now we know the result – success! They will definitely be on the café’s menu, as something new to try. We have put a little spin on our sõir this year, frying it. We serve it with raw gooseberry jam, a flavour combination that can’t be beat.
You can also find some regional handicrafts for admiring and you can embroider white lace with a large needle. And the café “soundtrack” will feature both old-fashioned karmoshka tunes and new sounds.

We look forward to seeing you!
