“Under the Birches” Café welcomes you to Ojanurme Farm in Saabolda – a place where time takes on a different meaning.
When we first came to see this old farmstead four years ago, there was little here apart from the birch trees. The land was covered with tree stumps, overgrown with brush, and the farmhouse stood in ruins. But the moment we stood beneath those beautiful birches, we knew something special would begin here. That is how our café got its name – “Under the Birches.”
Alongside delicious homemade food and drinks, you can nourish your mind and soul in our sauna, which offers beautiful views of the Setomaa countryside. If you simply wish to slow down, relax in one of the hammocks beneath the birch trees and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
A truly authentic experience awaits with the Seto women's folk dance group Poloda Piigad, of which our hostess is also a member. You will have the opportunity to watch and even learn traditional Seto dances at three performances: 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00. And of course, the lively sounds of the garmon will be part of the day as well.
