Beside the museum is a small log building with a barely visible wooden cross on its roof. This is Obinitsa tsässon, a village chapel. The tsässon was built in 2007 to replace another that stood in the same spot a hundred years ago. The chapel plays an important role in Seto culture. Obinitsa Tsässon is dedicated to the Feast of the Transfiguration. On the evening before the feast, on 18 August, there is a procession to the chapel from the Obinitsa Church. At all other times, anyone can stop by to explore for themselves what one of Setomaa's tsässons looks like.
