In this historic Seto farm, authentic flavours are prepared using local ingredients and traditional recipes
Kriisa, Litvina, Setomaa vald
The signature dish at Kriisa Farm is still our hearty thick porridge, served with our famous “Hare’s Lamb.” How is that possible? Come and ask us! We prepare traditional sweet and savoury dishes the way our grandparents used to make them, while adding a few gems of modern cuisine. You will certainly find fish stew and onion pie on the menu, and you can taste – or take home – sõir (traditional Seto cured cheese) made by the three-time Seto Kingdom Cured Cheese Master.
In addition to home-grown and locally sourced food, one of our farm's greatest treasures is its traditional architecture. Using historic building techniques, we have restored our granary, clay house and smoke sauna over the past few years. Last year, magnificent traditional Seto gates were added to the farmstead. In the handicraft house, visitors can discover the hostess’s passion for traditional crafts.
The entire Kriisa Farm café team wears Seto-inspired clothing, and whenever time allows, we dance, play music and sing Seto leelo together with our guests. Our granary shop is open, offering a selection of farm products to take home, while our treasure corner features interesting second-hand and upcycled items. There is also a play area for children and a water station for pets.
