The Mustoja Nature Park is designed to protect the Mustoja kame area. Here one finds forests, swamps, valleys, hills, moors, and sands. Many rare species thrive in this diverse landscape.
About 3,000 hectares of the park reflect the area's military past: already in the tsarist period there was a cavalry practice area, and in the 1920s, the artillery range of the Estonian Defense Forces Northern Camp. After World War II, polygon from the area was used in Soviet military parts. While exploring this this area, make sure to use the map, as the protected area is bordered by the Saatse Boot. Keep in mind that one should not get closer than 10 m to the border posts.
